Rob Barnett has more than 17 years of experience providing crisis management, restructuring, corporate finance, and bankruptcy services across multiple industries and with companies ranging from several million to several billion in annual revenue.
Mr. Barnett recently advised on the $650 million refinancing of a national homebuilder, which included the buyout of a 20,000 lot joint venture and the sale of two 1,000+ lot divisions. Previously he advised on the restructuring, wind down and sale of over 70 investments in a $180 million real estate fund including, single family, multi family, apartments, condominium. high rise and senior living developments. He has also served as interim senior management during the Ch. 11 bankruptcy of a timeshare and resort company with $900 million in assets. Other select in and out of court cases where Mr. Barnett has served include Phar-Mor, Morrison Knudsen (MK Rail), Delphi, Citation Steel, a $350 million body armor company, a $250 million private university, a $2.5 billion homebuilder and financial advisory services for Atlantis Plastics for their Chapter 11 filing. He has also served as a fiduciary in several cases including Trustee for the Sea Island Company Creditors Liquidating Trust and receiver for a methane energy company.
As a litigation support consultant, Mr. Barnett has provided expert testimony to state and federal courts as well as mediation. Recent expert testimony includes, the operating and wind down costs of Atlantis Plastics, profit distributions in a real estate development contract dispute and $6 million preference and fraudulent conveyance defense. He has also provided litigation & dispute services on matters including fraudulent conveyance and solvency.
Prior to joining Conway MacKenzie, he was a Managing Director at Hays Financial Consulting where he played an influential role in the operations of the turnarounds and crisis management, Chapter 11 bankruptcy and corporate finance practices. Mr. Barnett has also provided bankruptcy and restructuring services at Finley Colmer & Company and the Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group.
Mr. Barnett received his Masters of Business Administration degree and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA).
