James Embree provides crisis management and turnaround consulting services to under-performing companies over a vast array of industries including: aerospace/defense, agriculture, automotive, distribution, finance, insurance, manufacturing/industrial, real estate, service businesses, transportation, wholesale and retail. Mr. Embree also has deep experience in analyzing strategic alternatives, creditor negotiations, and other roles as a senior restructuring/banking expert.
Prior to joining Conway MacKenzie, Mr. Embree was with Manufacturers National Bank of Detroit and Comerica Bank for more than 36 years. From 2003 to his retirement in 2011, Mr. Embree managed the Midwest Middle Market workout group responsible for loan recovery and restructuring single and multi-bank credits, both agented and non-agented, up to $120 million in exposure. During the recent downturn, his group of 8 workout professionals managed $1 billion in loan commitments. He negotiated complex automotive workouts and accommodation agreements in and out of bankruptcy, as well as §363 sales and liquidations. Prior to that assignment, he managed a full service Asset Based Lending unit covering the Eastern U.S. with a staff of 30 in satellite offices in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, New York, Atlanta and Ft. Lauderdale.
Mr. Embree earned a Masters in Business Administration and Masters of Science in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973. He is a Certified Turnaround Professional, a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor, and Certified in Distressed Business Valuation. He is a past Director of the Detroit Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and also belongs to the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors. |
